This course will aim to provide the students with an introduction to the interdisciplinary field of Native American Studies and with an indigenous perspective on US history. Course content will focus mostly on the indigenous peoples and cultures of the United States of America, their global experience of and reaction to the colonization and assimilation process, as well as contemporary cultural expressions and human realities, representations, sovereignty and political issues, and creative pathways followed by tribal nations towards resilience and a better future (for all?).
