Ouverture du plateforme Nautilus le 18.9(anciennement Conspire) .Le  centre de ressources langues (E118) ouvre le 11.9. Il y a aussi des activités ludiques et culturels de la MDL et des cours de conversation. Votre enseignante est en E118 les mardis,mercredis et jeudis de 12h à 14H E118 pour toute question.


  • S2 class 1

    • Film presentation in groups of three or four.

      Your presentation  about a film or series related to disability and or series should be maximum 15 minutes. It should not be a French film.

      The content will vary depending on the film, but must relate as much as possible to disability.

      It can include some or all of the following IN YOUR OWN WORDS

       a very brief summary of the story,

      information about the disability

       how the disability is  dealt with in the film;

      the message of the film,

      whether or not the film is based on a true story or a novel

      the preparation the actor(s) did to play the role,

      what you think of the film,

      a short clip to illustrate an aspect of disability shown in the film 

       

      I can lend copies of ‘Breathe’, ‘My Left Foot’ and ‘Rain Man’ otherwise you will have to find copies. Please tell me in the first class what film you will present.The presentations will be in class 2,3 or 4.

      Evaluation

      This is an oral presentation,so your communication skills will be evaluated.(speed,intonation,pronunciation,interaction with the audience) as well as the content.Please remember language when we present a subject the other people don't know must be simple and clear. Do not read or memorize long sentences from your research on the internet,using vocabulary  and expressions the class will not understand.Don't hesitate to explain vocabulary and remember to check the pronunciation of key words.


       

    • In class 1 we worked on film vocabulary and talking about films in the class.Here is the powerpoint and handout.

    • Before the second  class in S2  on Monday 5.2.24  you should read chapters 1 to 89 (68 pages) of 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime' by Mark Haddon. You can find a pdf on line or buy the book in English. If you download the free application for kindle and buy the book in English for kindle, so that it is sent to your computer or telephone, you can choose to have 'wordwise' enabled. You then have synonyms and an English dictionary entry to help you with difficult wordsWe will use the chapterst from 'A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime' as a reference,not the page numbers. There are some short quizzes I have made . YOU MUST READ THE CHAPTERS BEFORE DOING THE QUIZZES..  FOR  QUESTIONS ABOUT VOCABULARY AND EXPRESSIONS I WILL GIVE THE CHAPTER REFERENCES AND YOU CAN USE A DICTIONARY. You can do the tests once,but you have plenty of time.  You should complete the quizzes  before the class. . You will also need to have read chapters 1-89 before the class, in order to be able to participate!
      Most of you found the film 'Unrest'in S1 interesting .Jessica featured in the film wrote a book.Click on the title to find an example of a page from her book, on kindle with wordwise,so that you can see how you can be helped to read ,if you have a book on kindle . The book is 'A girl behind dark glasses' by Jessica Taylor Bearman.

    • Match the vocabulary with the definition relating to gardening. For 5.2.24

  • Class 2 S2

    In class 2 we discussed the first part of the book up to chapter 89 in particular what Christopher can and can't do and what he likes and doesn't like.We watched the trailer and interview with people who had seen the show based on the book and which millions have seen. We noted the adjectives used to describe the show and students spoke about concerts and shows they had seen,which had marked them.Some students presented films.

    You need to continue reading until chapter 179 and do the quizzes and tests for class 3.




  • Class 3

    We discussed the middle of the book. Students watched then presented either Mical about za dyslexic boy  

    or 'The Silent child' about a deaf child   to another student ,who hadn't seen the film. Some students presented films . Before class 4 you must finish reading the book and do the quizzes for the last part of the book. In class 4 we will decide which part of the play version you will act out in groups.

  • S1 Class 1

    In class 1 we worked on page 2  from the booklet.

    We talked about our experience of disability,watched two videos and discovered words related to disability.

    Video 1

    An Oscar winning animated film with the message'The real kindness is when you are willing to give up something you need.

    We wrote summaries of this video in class. Here is a model example.

    An old man was standing in a train,because he couldn’t find a seat.A young woman gave him her seat.The man didn’t want help,he was proud.They both had a long journey of about 6 hours.The old man thanked her and accepted the seat. The young girl had to hold onto a rail for the rest of the journey.The ticket collector and arrived and asked for the tickets.The old man only had a ticket to stand and the girl had a seat.The ticket collector was surprised , but the girl said sshh.He offered her another seat in the next carriage. The girl took her crutches and started to move.The other passengers were shocked and embarrassed. The message was always help others in need

    1 Work on the grammar of can, could, be able to by watching the two simple English videos and doing the exercises from Anglais facile.com  

    2. Watch again the video watched in class about  Theo, before watching one of the videos about Archie  Alexandra, Phoebe or Robbie. I told you in class which video to watch.Take notes about the person, so that you can speak about the person in the next lesson. The front two rows of class should come to class 2 at 15h and the others at 16H


    Don't forget to do the diagnostic test.

  • Class 2

    • AFTER CLASS 2 choose one of the videos about Archie/Phoebe/Alexandra/Robbie that you didn't present in class. Imagine you are Archie/Phoebe/Alexandra or Robbie . Introduce yourself and describe a typical day. Use information in the video and your imagination. Talk about what you can and can't do and how you feel about your situation.  200 words minimum.PDF if possible. DO NOT USE A TRANSLATOR. KEEP IT SIMPLE AND USE YOUR OWN WORDS

  • Class 3 S1 What it means to be superhuman

    In class 3 we worked on superhumans . For class 5 you will make a recording about one of the short videos in this section .They are people we saw in the video What it means to be superhuman. .Here is the video we worked on during the THIRD class.
    There is a quick quiz on it,not difficult at all,because we did it orally in class. For class 4 you need to come for one hour to present a Ted talk.

    In class three we  watched  the Ted talk 'The Sore problem of prosthetic limbs'(see the booklet). For Class 4
    you must prepare a short presentation on a Ted talk related to disability.TRY NOT TO HAVE THE SAME SUBJECT AS THE OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR GROUP.
    • Match the sports person or musician and what you saw them doing in the 'what it means to be superhuman' video.We did this in class,so it should take only 5 minutes.It might be a good idea to watch the video again though.PLEASE DO THIS BEFORE CLASS 4

    • Your recording should be about 2 minutes long.You should post it for 20.11 (B) or 13.11(A)

  • Class 4

    In class students presented their Ted talks about disability.To prepare for the next class you should look  watch a video about gerunds and infinitives  and do the online exercises.

  • S1Classes 5 and 6



    In this section you will find documents related to the film 'Unrest' THE POSTER IS FROM 2019  This year we will watch the Ted talk by Jennifer Brea in class 5  and part of the film. In class 6 we will finish watching the film and you will immediately do a short piece of writing about it.The film is available on You Tube if you are  not in class  you should Watch the first 30 minutes before class 6 or you can make an appointment to watch it in the resource centre E118. In class 6 we will finish watching the film and you will write Something about it.

    There is also  a quick grammar test on points seen in the other sections. You may wish to revise the grammar from section one and five before doing the test. You only have 20 minutes and one chance to do the test. Sometimes more than one answer is correct! Each person will have the questions in a different order.
